What is Shipton Bellinger?

Shipton Bellinger is a village on the Hampshire/ Wiltshire borders, in England, about 7 miles from the Stonehenge World Heritage site. We are close to the small towns of Tidworth and Amesbury, and are on the edge of Salisbury Plain. Our location within Hampshire is roughly indicated on the map extract above (click on it for finer detail). In the "About Shipton" section we have described the village in more detail, it's past, present and future, and also reproduced the remarkable local history of the village.

Shipton Good Neighbours (SGN)	NEW! The Shipton Good Neighbours scheme became active on Weds 18th April 2007. Volunteers can provide help to residents in the parish of Shipton Bellinger for a variety of tasks.

	Though work has been done and the river is flowing nicely once more, the Environment Agency Floodline is 0845 988 1188 (just in case). The village flooded once more in the extreme rains of 2000/2002, a report of which is now in the village history. The Test Valley Website also maintains flood alerts and details and have a simple Leaflet outlining self-help (issued Nov 2001).
