Many villagers may be unaware of the existence of the School House Fund. In 1909 Mr H C Stephens (owner of Cholderton Estate) offered to give to the Parish of Shipton Bellinger the land required for a school, on the condition that it included the provision of a Teacher's House. When the School House was sold in March 1985, the County Council discovered that he had also put a proviso on this gift, that if the School House was sold, the monies should be used for the benefit of the Youth of the village. The Charity Commissioners have now allowed the County Council to set up a Trust to administer this fund.
The money available is not to be used for school projects, but for other youth projects in the village.
